10-200, Affordable Artworks: Group Exhibition

 

The 18th iteration of GALLERY MAC's annual exhibition, "<10-200, Affordable Artworks>" is a specially curated event designed to allow art lovers to acquire pieces they have long desired at an affordable price. When this exhibition was first organized in 2007, the idea of owning art seemed distant for the general public, but now, 18 years later, the intention of the exhibition—to popularize art ownership—has become a reality.

 

This year, over 70 emerging, young, mid-career, and established artists have joined the exhibition, offering works in various genres including Western painting, Eastern painting, sculpture, photography, and printmaking, with prices ranging from 100,000 to 2,000,000 KRW. The young and emerging artists who participated in the inaugural exhibition in 2007 have now grown into mid-career artists. Some of the young artists who shyly mention that they once visited this exhibition with their parents as students are now proudly contributing as professional artists. The exhibition also hosts collectors with their own unique stories—those who save a little each month to purchase a piece every year, those acquiring art for the first time, and those stepping into a gallery for the first time. It's these personal stories and the meaningful steps taken by each collector that make this exhibition an ongoing and irresistible event.

 

For those who love art but feel intimidated by the high prices, often in the millions or even billions of won, this exhibition aims to transform those feelings of hesitation into excitement and joy. We hope this event serves as an opportunity for the gallery and art to become more ingrained in everyday life, bringing art closer to the public, and making it accessible and familiar to everyone at any time.
