Artist’s note
Most of my contemporaries shoulder the weight and pain of life. At least for me… Modern people look like heavy elephants wearing a pair of high heel shoes. It makes me dizzy. You could think my elephants look unfamiliar and funny at the first time but you will easily find them everywhere on the road, in your office, at home etc. - Spring, 2011

Jung Yoon Lee’s Round trip project since 2012
Elephant, the biggest of living animals on the earth, is wearing tiny and hot pink high-heels in Jung Yoon Lee's creative world. The transformation of the elephant doesn't stop there. The heavy weight of its huge-build is converted into an object that is light enough to be held with one hand. In 25cm high soft elephants toy with hot pink high-heels on have their own serial numbers. They are parceled out together with these numbers to anyone who wants them. They are supposed to travel in the name of parceling-out not only at home but also abroad. The elephants, which get together again after their journey from few month to a year, become interesting characters in "Elephants Round Trip", Jung Yoon Lee's Five Years Art Project. They, however, are back with their own everlasting names. So it puts their original serial numbers into the shade. That's not all. The just simple soft elephants returned wearing nice individual dresses, polished make ups. So now they become unique and individual beings. The appearance of elephants with changed figure while spending time with people of all ranks and classes, is as interesting as innumerable ways of life in the world. Those various external changes were left in visualized record during trip and sent together with toys. The photos capturing the process of changing and growing up to their own figures become temporal record and leave moments of changing forever. The traces of time recorded present the perpetuality of the places they stayed. Eternity of this space time is represented by and always remembered. The elephant, which pursues ceaseless changes and progress to find out values in recurrent everyday life, becomes a symbol of contemporary men living in the 21st century and will continuously lead their constant trips.
